Ready for Winter to be done with!

This year in Texas has been filled with crazy weather. We went from being drought for a number of years to water everywhere. Streams were dry, grass brown when it should have been green and a lot of ranchers having to cart water for their animals.  Dry, hardened ground that you could not even hammer a pipe into has now become a mud patch. I almost feel like it does in Maine at mud season.

Then there is the cold. Winter’s here are usually mild and comfortable. Days are in the 50′s and up to 70′s much of the time. Now I dance a jig when it gets to about 50. Our heating bill has been killing us as well.

We will not even talk much about the snow! Yes, snow here. Not something seen much where I live, in fact only 2 times before this year has there been any snow, and that was just a bit and then gone. More flurries than anything.

I am so ready for winter to be over….

Or am I?

Last summer we had over 3 months of it not getting below 100 degrees. NO, I am not ready for summer either. Every cold day this year I think about the 100+ we had for so many months. At least I can put on more clothes and be warmer. Summer you can only take off so much and that did not help anyway. (Please do not ask how I know).

So, here we sit wondering what the spring will bring. Last year it was summer starting in March, will this year be a repeat?

Rain yesterday, ice on the walk this morning and now Mr. Sun is trying to shine through. Ahhhhhhhhhh maybe we will have a long spring… wouldn’t that be nice?

hahaha… saw your blog addy on your post at Julia’s Needles and came to read it. Had a good chuckle about the weather on TX – I was down in San Antonio and Corpus Christi last July and it was never below 104, I was there scouting out a place to stay this winter to get away from New England winters. Got to CC and had to scrape the frost off the windshield repeatedly while SA was getting snow. I thought why am I paying rent here to do that?!?!? And I was bored stiff without my “stuff” available to me. So I came back much earlier than I’d planned. Maaybe I’ll give it a try next year again… maybe…
