Olympics
I do not know about you, but I get excited at Olympic time. Summer Olympics bring one excitement with the Gymnastics being the big thing for me. Winter Olympics it is the figure skating, bobsledding and a few other things.
As I watched the luger lose his life and then read this in the headlines: ” Nodar Kumaritashvile lost his life pursuing his passion” it made me think of how much all these athletes give to the goat the have before them. They each have a story, each sacrifices to share. One figure pairs figure skater actually defected to the Soviet Union from Japan so she could compete, another competitor went to Australia.
As I ponder all this I think about me and my life. I think about my citizenship being in Heaven and yet I am here on earth. My goals should be to live for Christ and represent Him to the best. I should be willing to sacrifice and give as He did by coming here to earth. My life, and all those who are born again Christians, represents heaven and the Lord.
How are we performing? What are we sacrificing? What weights are we laying aside in order to win the prize? While all born again Christians will receive heaven, some of us may be gravely ashamed when we see our works go up in smoke. When God looks at us and is not pleased with our life and what we did with our race.
Are we a people of God who are willing to even die for Him while representing Him here on earth?
Our world is getting worse and worse. Leadership in this country alone is bringing about destruction to our nation. We look around the world and world is setting up for Bible prophecy fulfillment. The stage is being set as THE WORD says. Are you ready? Am I?
I would like to challenge each of us to work like the athletes we are seeing in the Olympics. They are doing it for an earthly medal, how much more should we be doing it for our heavenly crown?
1 Corinthians 9:25 says “And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.”
Strive. Sacrifice. Christ’s coming is growing closer.
