So, Why Not Sew?

Once again it is Bloggy Giveaway time and I am participating.
I love to sew and as a result have collected lots of fabric. I would like to share some with others that sew or use it for crafts.
For my giveaway I am going to put together a box of fabric and some other trims, lace, buttons or whatever hits my fancy at the time I pack it. There will be cotton, knit, kids and quilt fabric in the box, with a minimum of 10 yards total.
I have so much I want to share with someone that could use it. Who knows, I may have enough to pick two winners!

Lately I have made some casserole totes, nursing covers, aprons, and oven mitts as gifts. I am about to embark on a quilt and some pj pants–if I can really work up the nerve!
Sewing is my “Me” creative outlet and blessing after pouring all I have into my students all week (my “them” creative outlet–I do it all for them!). I can only imagine what could be created with your giveaway!

I don’t sew a lot of things and have never sewed my own clothes, but my grandma has been teaching me to quilt and sometimes I like to incorporate fabric into my other creative projects (for example, to cover a journal or to line a knitted handbag).

I’m just learning to sew- my mom and nannie are helping me make aprons and burp cloths/bibs for gifts right now. I’d use the fabric for those.

I just started sewing again after many years away from the machine. I am about to finish an apron, but I’d like to make some simple play outfits for my girls. I’d also like to learn how to make some tote bags for them to take to the library.

I’m not sure what I’d do – most of my sewing is to make gifts. Because of where I am, I end up making lots of baby gifts like shoes and bigs. I also like to make some animal softies, and have recently finished my first quilt.

Mostly I like to quilt. However, I do make pajama pants for my 10 and 11 year old daughters. And sometimes I give them away as birthday gifts to their friends!
Right now i’m making 5 giant size pillows for my son’s friends for HS Graduation. I’d better get them finished up soon. I’m not exactly sure what size they’ll be. Maybe 20 or 24 inch.

I have an obsession with fabric scraps and pieces. I’ve made bags and used them for pockets, little zipper bags or patch patterns. I have grand plans for coasters, a picnic blanket, aprons, and pillows…we’ll see how long that takes!

I am new to quilting so I am building my fabric up. I have 2 blankets and a tablerunner I am currently working on. I also have a baby blanket to make in the coming month and have been sewing some dresses for my daughter recently. I could find so many uses for this fabric my head is spinning! I love fabric, the colors, patterns, feel. I make quilts for family and for charity. I would love more fabric of course. I try to make two quilts a month for Project Linus so if I were lucky enough to win that’s what I would use the fabric for. Thanks for the chance.

This is the best giveaway ever! I sew quilts, design and make handbags with all sorts of embellishments and I sew some of my own clothes. In addition, I am making quilts this year for the NICU at our hospital, where my nephew spent his first ten days last year. A little thank you for him!

What don’t I like to sew? I’m a costume shop supervisor (along with being a professor) at a college and therefore am always playing with/figuring out to solve different sewing challenges. At home I love to quilt and now that I own my home, I plan on sewing a lot more home decor projects!

My daughter and I make doll clothes during the summer. It’s her favorite thing. She’s already started designing some clothes she wants to try to make. I’m a little scared, because most of them are ball gowns for her dolls, and I’m not that talented with a sewing machine. Luckily, she’s very forgiving.

I have really learned to love sewing. I got a sewing machine 4 years ago from my in-laws (it was my first Christmas as their daughter-in-law). Not anything fancy a simple Brothers (cost $80) but I have got my fair share out of it. I sew everything from cloth diapers, to shirts, and am now working on a quilt for my daughter (14 months) I would probably sew something for her.

I love to sew gifts, aprons, pinafores, nursing covers, burp clothes etc… One of my favorite thing to do is to cut up my spare fabric when I’m done with a project into 1.5″ strips and sew them together on the bias. I then roll up these strips into balls and store them …. when I have enough I can make a beautiful rag rug and have tons of memories of all the fun projects. So fun thanks for the give away!

I am a pastor’s wife and have three lovely children, so I would use the fabric for clothing and gifts! I am attempting to find the time this year (before Christmas) to make a patchwork quilt for my husband of some of his favorite but outworn clothing. I may even get around to ones for my kiddos, too.

My teenage daughters and I love to work with fabric. We make everything from hairband to skirts. Our newest project is “clothing restructuring”. It is actually a very “green” activity because we are reworking their wardrobe to make use of olders things they can’t or don’t wear anymore.

I don’t sew, but I use fabric and notions and ribbon and lace to make homemade cards, scrapbook pages, notebooks and all manner of other “crafty” things. If I win, I’ll send you a notebook I made with something from the box.

I love fabric too! I sew dresses for my little girl, I make bags and purses and wallets. I have also made burp cloths, baby blankets, and headbands. I have so many things that I want to make right now, but I need more time in the day since I also knit:) This is such a fun prize – Thank you!

I like to make all kinds of things : Quilts, Blankets, Pillows, Stuffed Animals, Bags and other little toys. I also like to upcycle t-shirts by adding material cut into designs onto them.

I would love to learn to sew with my mother-n-love. We actually have a dream to start a business at home so I can be at home with my precious daughter. My m-n-l just lost her job, but she loves to sew. She has made my daughter a few blankets and she loves them. We want to start a business called “Lankie Blankies”. Our last name is very similar to Lankie.
So, I would use the fabric to help start this business.

I love to gather fabric to make quilts. Whenever I see a nice pattern I think I need to but a yard or two for some future quilt project. Well…it depends on the fabric. I want to make some bean bags for my boys to play with and also some soft toys for new babies in my life. I am trying to learn to make cloth diapers also as my are starting to fall apart (after two littles) and we are hoping to have another in the next year or two. I have to many projects on my list to list! LOL. THanks!

What I like to do with fabric….EVERYTHING! I sew and make things from clothes to items around the house. I also quilt and make toys from fabric.

By no means am I an expert seamstress- It is a newer hobby for me that I am really starting to enjoy. I especially like to make things for my little boy who is 8 months old. I also like to use scraps of fabric for misc things like using a strip to tie a bow around a present. Or sewing a little bag for a present instead of using a paper one or giftwrap. I have 6 kids-one little girl in the crew.
I make 50 to 75% of her clothes (even though I am really just a beginner).
I make the boys PJ pants and have made the little ones boxers. I also have made them some winter hats.
If I were to win, I would like to make my little girl some new summer dresses, she’s grown a bunch since last year! And the boys new pj pants-a couple of them have outgrown the last pair that I made them:-) Kids grow sooooo fast!

Hi! I’d love to win this fabric! I am just starting out, I got my sewing machine for Black Friday. I enjoy making flannel prefolds (cloth diapers) & decorating my cotton prefolds. I have also been making liners & will be making doggie diapers soon. I have lots of ideas but a small budget so I’d love this fabric! I am sure I could put it to good use!

Ten yards?! Wow, I would make a sundress for my little granddaughter (and her mom would make one too. we are trying tandum sewing this year!) And a couple more cloth tote bags for my shopping – I am finally getting really good at remembering to take the bags into the store with me! And I have been wanting to try to make a pillowcase dress (since I’ve been making all our pillowcases) for a charity drive. And maybe a bib apron for a friend on the other side of the country . . . so many yards, so many ideas! Thanks for doing this fun giveaway!
