Almond, Joy and Jack

My family is growing! Several weeks ago I mentioned that we had gained a little bottle baby. Jack is getting bigger as you can see here in this picture.

When we got Jack I remembered how much fun goats were. I also remembered they are trouble and smart too. Of course that was after I got Jack!

My husband and I decided that we would like to try and get a few more goats in the hopes that:

  • Jack would have company and not think he had to be by us every minute.
  • Jack would learn he is a goat and not a human
  • We could get some of the brush and impossible to mow areas cleared
  • We could get some milk since we have two granddaughters allergic to cow milk and goats milk is expensive.

We were only thinking of it and researching when someone mentioned they had some “fainting goats”. I knew goat breeds and had never heard of those and thought they were pulling my leg. Really now, goats that faint?

Yup! It was for real. I found it on YouTube. Have a look:

I could not resist. I called up, went to see them and bought them, a mom and her doeling.

Now, we have had them almost a week and have not seen them faint yet. Almond came to our patio door, took a peek in and startled our dog. When Makita jumped up Almond went stiff legged and hobbled off the ramp to the yard, looked around and was fine. It was pretty funny to see.

About our plans:

  • Jack still thinks he is a dog
  • Almond does not want Jack near her baby
  • Jack is still coming to the door and trying to open it to get in the house

So much for our plans!

We are enjoying our new family members and I wanted to share them with you.

Those goats remind me of the sheep in Veggie Tales that tip over.

I found you through Mom Bloggers Club.
This video is great! I tried not to laugh at these sweet goats, but I just couldn’t help it.
